Library Resources for TMHS

See below for information concerning:

Remote Access | Ovid E-Book Collection | NCME Registration | Disaster Preparedness | Help

The TMHs community has access to all of the HAM-TMC Library's electronic resources (please note these exceptions).

You can navigate using the sidebar on this page to the Library's journals, databases, and electronic books. You can also search the online catalog. The SEARCH10 Box allows you to search across 10 of the Library's most important resources. Access to these resources is provided within the buildings of The Methodist Hospital System. You can also access these resources from home or offsite by using your remote access account.

Remote Access

If you are accessing the Library's resources from The Methodist Hospital System buildings, you will automatically be authenticated and gain access to everything (with a few exceptions) provided by the HAM-TMC Library.

If you are a TMHs physician trying to access the Library's resources remotely, please use the Physician Portal link to enter the WebVPN.

If you are offsite and away from TMHS buildings, you can still access most of the Library's resources using your HAM-TMC Library remote access account.

Remote access allows registered users to access HAM-TMC Library electronic journals and databases from anywhere Internet access is available, from home or while traveling.

Complete the Remote Access Registration form to get your account set up immediately.

Exceptions

TexShare databases provided by HAM-TMC Library are only available to educational institutions.

Journals in Texshare databases are not accessible to Methodist users through the HAM-TMC Library, since Texshare membership includes academic institutions only. This includes journals within the following databases:

However, you can gain access to these resources through the Houston Public Library or the Harris County Public Library. Print out the library card registration form and then take it to the Branch Library of your choice, present your ID, and receive your HPL PowerCard or your HCPL Library Card. This will give you access to a wide array of non-medical resources, such as Academic Search Complete, Business Source Complete, Newspaper Source, and other useful databases.

Also, some resources provided by HAM-TMC Library are not very relevant to a clinical setting. Resources such as America: History and Life and other humanities-oriented or general information sources have not been included in your access. However, if there are Library resources that you think should be available at The Methodist Hospital, please contact Linne Girouard or by telephone at 713.441.2229.
