Computing @ the Library

Computer Labs and Resources

The HAM-TMC Library maintains a 25-station Classroom, a fully-configured Computer Lab with 27 workstations and a 27-station research and browsing Lab.

Hardware-
Classroom computers are Dell® Optiplex Gx620 using Intel Dual core Pentiums clocked at 3.06 GHz. These systems contain 1GB of RAM and a combination DVD/CD ROM burner. The Computer Labs and browsing stations are stocked with Dell® GX240 workstations using Pentium® IV 1.8 GHz processors, 256 MB of RAM, and CD Burners.

Operating Systems-
The OS for all of the HAM-TMC Library's public computers is Microsoft® Windows XP. For the protection of our patrons' privacy and to enhance the stability and integrity of the systems, they are also protected with DeepFreeze and are rebooted to a clean, known state nightly.

Software-
In the Classroom and Computer Labs, workstations are loaded with the Microsoft® Office Professional Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, Publisher, InfoPath) as well as Visio and Project is available upon request. SiteFinder and EndNote are also available on the classroom computers, for training purposes.

The latest Web browsing softwares from Microsoft®, Mozilla® and Netscape® are also loaded for your convenience.

Each system is also protected by Symantec® Enterprise 10.0 Anti-virus solution.

Internet Access in the Library

The research/browsing computers are loaded with the latest Web browsing software from Microsoft®, Mozilla® and Netscape®.
