  • Description: "NIA, one of the 27 Institutes and Centers of NIH, leads a broad scientific effort to understand the nature of aging and to extend the healthy, active years of life. In 1974, Congress granted authority to form NIA to provide leadership in aging research, training, health information dissemination, and other programs relevant to aging and older people. Subsequent amendments to this legislation designated the NIA as the primary Federal agency on Alzheimer’s disease research." A large number of free publications, some provided in Spanish, are available for downloading. These include fact sheets, reports and a short e-book, Alzheimer's Disease: Unraveling the Mystery. Information about research projects and clinical trials, health- and aging-related organizations, and links to other related resources are provided here.

  • Description: The 24 Languages Project is a portal for electronic access to over 200 health education brochures in Arabic, Armenian, Cambodian, Chinese, Croatian, English, Farsi, French, German, Haitian Creole, Hmong, Japanese, Korean, Laotian, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Samoan, Serbo-Croatian, Somali, Spanish, Tagalog, Thai, Tongan and Vietnamese languages. In many cases, the information is provided in both .pdf and sound recording formats. All instances of these patient information documents may be downloaded and distributed for noncommercial use. Be advised that most of the information is not available in all languages, and some of the information available has not been updated recently.
